Electronic Body Music from Copenhagen

Material Audio is the home for a number of acts from the Copenhagen EBM scene.

Neotek: Brain Over Muscle

Originally released in 1995, Neotek’s debut album captures the raw spirit of a Danish electronic act determined to push boundaries. Inspired by Front Line Assembly, Front 242, and Belgian New Beat, it blends electro-industrial textures, early techno grooves, and dark atmospheres into a sound both immediate and immersive.

This mix of instrumental soundscapes and vocal-driven tracks showcases Neotek’s versatility. From the fast-paced “Mind-Travelling” and the driving “Pink Noise” to the hard-edged “Into Silence,” these songs quickly became staples of their live shows. The instrumental “Rhythm Machine” also stood out, evolving in concert with added vocal lines that energized audiences.

The remastered edition brings new clarity to the original recordings and includes bonus tracks that reveal more of the band’s early creative vision.

A vivid document of its era—and ahead of it—Neotek’s debut still resonates with the same restless energy that first inspired underground audiences across Europe.

Good Courage: Old, Broken & Destroyed

This 1995-album originally released on Danish label Hard Records has long been regarded as an underground classic in the electronic and industrial music scenes. Now, the album returns with a fresh remaster, bringing renewed clarity and power to its timeless dark soundscapes.

The project "Good Courage" was the brainchild of producers Jacob Neis and Henrik Jensen—best known as founding members of Neotek—alongside American vocalist and lyricist Eric Nelson from Placerville, California. The result was a raw yet melodic fusion of darkwave synthpop and industrial elements, deeply inspired by the sonic experimentation of early Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, and Einstürzende Neubauten.

Defined by its brooding atmospheres, aggressive synth programming, and intricate sampled metal hits and noises, *Old, Broken & Destroyed* stood out in the mid-'90s electronic landscape. Nelson’s haunting yet powerful vocal delivery, reminiscent of Robert Smith (The Cure) and Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), brought authenticity and depth to the album’s introspective and darkly personal lyrics.

With this remastered edition, longtime fans and newcomers alike will experience Good Courage’s landmark release with unprecedented depth and fidelity.
