This 1995-album first released on Danish label Hard Records, reissued in 1996 via Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records has long been regarded as an underground classic in the electronic and industrial music scenes. Now, the album returns with a fresh remaster, bringing renewed clarity and power to its timeless dark soundscapes.
Old, Broken & Destroyed was the brainchild of producers Jacob Neis and Henrik Jensen—best known as founding members of Neotek—alongside American vocalist and lyricist Eric Nelson from Placerville, California. The result was a raw yet melodic fusion of darkwave synthpop and industrial elements, deeply inspired by the sonic experimentation of early Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, and Einstürzende Neubauten.
Defined by its brooding atmospheres, aggressive synth programming, and intricate sampled metal hits and noises, *Old, Broken & Destroyed* stood out in the mid-'90s electronic landscape. Nelson’s haunting yet powerful vocal delivery, reminiscent of Robert Smith (The Cure) and Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), brought authenticity and depth to the album’s introspective and darkly personal lyrics.
With this remastered edition, longtime fans and newcomers alike will experience Good Courage’s landmark release with unprecedented depth and fidelity.
